Have you noticed patterns in when your lupus flares happen, and which season affects you most?

Many people with lupus do notice patterns in their flare-ups, though it can take time to identify them. A MyLupusTeam member shared, "At first, identifying my flare triggers was difficult. I still have some difficulty." Another noted, "It took me a number of years to make that connection."

Weather and seasonal changes are common triggers. Some members find summer particularly challenging due to sun exposure and heat. One member explained, "To me, our hot Texas summers are the worst. I had to stop showing real estate properties because of the heat and extremely painful flares."

Others struggle more when seasons change. A member wrote, "The weather is changing. I find this has a major impact on me."

Winter can also be difficult for some, especially those who experience Raynaud's phenomenon or joint pain from cold weather.

The key is tracking your own patterns over time. As one member advised, "You will see what doesn't work for you. Lupus can be so different for each person."

What patterns have you noticed in your flares?

More outside activity can flare my rash (Spring), but the winter will all the viruses going around definitely brings on the full systemic flare. Also, being indoors with people wearing louder perfumes during the winter months can definitely bring on a systemic flare.

I am really feeling the day-to-day shifts in temperature, especially when it gets colder, wet, or both.
