Members shared their diverse gastrointestinal experiences with lupus, with many describing chronic stomach pain, irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, acid reflux, and diverticulitis, while one member recounted how persistent GI issues ultimately led to their lupus diagnosis after years of unexplained symptoms. Several members found relief through dietary changes, particularly going gluten-free, with one discovering celiac disease through genetic testing and another planning microbiome testing with a naturopathic doctor to identify the root cause of ongoing problems. A recurring theme was the unpredictability of GI symptoms from day to day, the need to eat carefully and watch trigger foods, and the supportive encouragement members offered each other through their shared struggles with both lupus and digestive challenges.
