I have had SLE for more than 30 years and my family teases me that my thermostat is broken. I am always too hot whether I’m flaring or not. I live in Canada where the winters are typically cold and long; though not particularly helpful for my mental health, it does make me feel better physically to be in a cold room. So I close all the heating vents in my bedroom and if the outside temp is warmer than -10 I leave my patio door open a few inches. I have a thin summer quilt on my bed (except for my feet which require more warmth). Sometimes my husband will say that my arm feels like a piece of refrigerated meat but to me I still feel too hot. 🥵. Other times my skin is so hot ice will immediately start to melt when I apply it. This has gotten worse year over year and I can get quite panicky if I feel overheated. I’m very careful when I go out in summer to ensure I go from my central air conditioned house to a fully air conditioned vehicle and so on. When it gets really bad I have ice packs ready to go in my freezer and I just pack myself in ice until the sensation goes away I have hypothyroidism as well so some drs have suggested this is what causes it and others blame lupus. Ultimately no one has a solution for it. Hopefully this will be temporary for you. Sometimes this disease can be like death by a thousand paper cuts. Take care of yourself.

I am afraid that I do have episodes of feeling heated from the inside out. I pay attention as I am prone to UTI's with this disease process. So, I start a routine of a week of Oil of Oregano capsules. That usually slows it down, unless a flare is coming for another reason. Some time it is after sun exposure. I try not to but sometimes it is too much fun in the mineral waters. You got to live, I don't give it power over me.
