Was autoimmune related, would this not help my symptoms? Actually they are worse which I need to check blood sugar to see if this is the problem. I don’t have anything to check that with. I have no other symptoms of high blood sugar right now. I really want to know source of neuropathy in order to get correct treatment. I figured that much prednisone would help if related to my UCTD.
Finding the source of neuropathy can be extremely difficult! Blood sugar is usually the first thing they test. My neurologist finally did an EMG and figured out that my nerve sheaths in my lower legs were being destroyed. He diagnosed me with CIDP. Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy!!
To treat this, I get a monthly IVIG infusion.
I’m going to buy one of those meters tomorrow and check my sugar
You need to get a small meter, nothing expensive and keep a watch on your blood sugar. If you are not a diabetic you should be ok, but if you are a diabetic or pre-diabetic, then you definitely need to watch it closely while on Prednisone. Call rheumatologist if not helping neuropathy pain, he/she needs to change med. Praying for you.
That’s my experience as well. Neuropathy is a challenge. Neurontin helps some people, didn’t do anything for me. Wish I had a better answer. Sometimes short bursts of cold water-not ice, gives me a bit of relief. Good luck♥️
That's a really important observation, and it makes sense to want to understand what's driving the neuropathy before assuming the treatment is working or not.
Prednisone is a strong anti-inflammatory that can help with autoimmune-related symptoms. However, it doesn't always resolve every symptom, even when the cause is Show Full Answer
