Members with Lupus SLE and inflammatory arthritis came together around foot pain in the metatarsals and joints, confirming it is a very common and often daily struggle for this community. Several members shared practical relief strategies including compound creams like Neuroprofen+, arnica, Voltaren, Epsom salt soaks, foot baths with heat and bubbles, acupuncture, orthotics, and flexible or adjustable footwear to accommodate swelling. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating with your doctor, as one member's persistence led to an MRI that discovered a tendon tear explaining months of severe pain.

Yes I too experience foot pain both on the bottom and top of my foot. Feels like they are broken. Very painful. Unfortunately I can only take tylenol. Sometimes heat helps and I use arnica, voltaren or nirvive roll on.

Hello Sara, I also have SLE and rheumatoid arthritis. I have not felt my big right toe in years, and it hurts at the same time (hope that makes sense); both my wrist and knuckles hurt as well. I take a weekly injection of Enbrel for the RA, which actually helps with swollen, stiff, painful joints. Are you taking anything for the joint pain?

I have both as well, I am on prednisone as I cannot take other anti inflammatory drugs causes bleeding into the joints . Im also on Embrel, plaquenyl, methotrexate, megafol and lipidil(statin) for high lipids. Generally the cocktail works well, however stress eating or drinking the wrong food can set up a flare. Infections are also flare causing. As for managing joint pain, I have used acupuncture, orthotics, good footwear, Epson salt( magnesium soak) and even hot wax has helped. Unfortunately no cure, I'm also on pain medication as required.
