The good news is that tapering down to 7.5 mg of prednisone is a positive step, and it's great that the blood sugar spikes seem to be settling down at this lower dose. Prednisone is well known for raising blood sugar levels, especially at higher doses.

Here are a few things that may help with the dry mouth in the meantime:

- Rinse your mouth with cold water regularly
- Suck on ice chips
- Chew sugarless gum
- Use an alcohol-free mouthwash
- Keep sugar-free hard candy on hand It's worth mentioning the dry mouth to your doctor, especially since you're managing blood sugar changes. Dry mouth can sometimes be a sign of elevated blood sugar, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on it and flag it at your next appointment — or sooner if it gets worse.

Never adjust or stop either medication without guidance from your care team.

Yes, when our blood sugar runs high, we have an osmotic diuresis and a higher urine output. This can cause some dry mouth.
