I am sorry about your embarrassing fall today. You are not alone. Been there, done that. You may want to talk to your doctor and find out if something else is going on. After having a few falls, my doctor told me to check YouTube for fall prevention exercises. I started doing helpful balance exercises. Another thing was practicing changing my focus from looking down at what is in front of me to looking at what is ahead of me. Little things like cracks in a sidewalk, a toy on the floor, or a small branch, etc., can literally trip us up. Please be safe and keep us posted. I will keep you in my prayers.

First, falling in front of your students and colleagues sounds really embarrassing β€” but please know it's not your fault, and your health comes first! πŸ’›

Frequent falls with lupus can be linked to several things worth checking out with your doctor:

- Muscle weakness from lupus or corticosteroid use
- Joint pain or swelling affecting balance and stability
- Fatigue causing coordination issues
- Peripheral neuropathy, a nerve-related complication of lupus
- Medication side effects that may affect balance or blood pressure

Four falls in 30 days is something your doctor should know about as soon as possible. This pattern is important to flag. As for tomorrow β€” taking a day off to rest and recover, both physically and emotionally, is a completely valid choice. Lupus fatigue and physical stress after a fall are real.

Listening to your body is not weakness β€” it's smart self-management. As one MyLupusTeam member put it, "sometimes resting needs to happen whether you want to or not."

Please do contact your doctor soon to discuss the falls. You deserve to feel safe at work! 🌟
