I applied for SSI and have been denied 3 times now. I have a lawyer and am currently reapplying for the fourth time. I just read about the Compassionate Allowance List and was wondering if anyone has ever been approved for disability using Lupus & the Compassionate Allowance List.
It's been 4 years now. I really need to get this done, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My Lupus has affected my kidney's, arteries, liver, joints and muscles and now my central nervous system & brain I… read more
My doctor wrote a letter SS and with that and my attorney it worked. It took abt 2 yrs all together but I did get all that back pay also. Hope this helps.
I applied in 2013, denied twice, and then went to a hearing on 11/8/16 and was approved immediately and back pay will go back to 12/1/12. I haven't heard of the Compassionate Allowance List but I have heard of an On the Record Request or OTR. that's when your doctor thinks you are a possible risk to yourself or some other emergency and it can push your case up sooner. There's a form they fill out and submit to SS. praying you get approved. Talk with your attorney. I had mounds of doctors paperwork submitted which was a tremendous help.
I got denied....AGAIN, what a shocker!? NOT :,) I give up I don't care if my doctors did tell me I can't work I'm applying for work I'd be dead in my grave by the time I'd get approved for disability, good luck to everyone else but I'm done trying it just makes me realise that maybe it isn't meant for me and maybe I don't deserve it so why try so I give up, hopefully I get an interview and then a job.
It took me almost 4 years of applying and appealing. I applied June 2008 and was approved November 2011. I'm not sure what the Compassionate Allowance List is, but it sounds like from what you are saying you should qualify. The Lawyer is the number one necessity reapplying within the required period of time and then waiting for a hearing takes approximately 18 months. When I reapplied finally and got a hearing set was was March of 2010, but it took me a couple denials and reapplications before I realized I had to get an attorney to get a hearing and wait the 18 months. Once the attorney was on board and you got in front of the judge things went smoothly....at least for me and then retro back paid me. Now I'm not saying that's what will happen in your case I'm just sharing what happened with me. I wish you luck.
My doctor wrote a letter although your doctor writing a letter doesn't always help you get your money often some people whose doctors write letters are usually lucky I'm just waiting on a decision for it feels like the 100th time now :')
