I'm very late in seeing this - was searching posts about glands. I get the exact same thing. Glands are almost always tender to tiuch and lately I've been having stabbing pains that shoot through them out of nowhere and kind of make me hold my neck crooked, then go aways after about a minute or two. Not sure what this is. Have you found any answers or remedies since posting this?

Does your neck get stiff? Mine would and sometimes it would be accompanied by a choking feeling, like the muscles were grabbing my neck from behind. My pcp sent me to physical therapy and that has helped some but did not clear it up. I'll be going back to my pcp to see what the next step is.
