I have been reading on internet of a dr. that has cured herself of lupus by a vegan diet. And all her tests have been negative for lupus for many years.
I was on a vegan diet before I received a diagnosis of lupus. Has anyone feel being on vegan diet can cured lupus? I do believe in a healthy diet of course but a cure? What are your thoughts?

Diet can play a major role in decreasing/managing lupus flares, but there isn’t anything close to a “cure all.” I’m not sure that vegan is specifially the way to go, because you can still eat a bunch of crap food on a vegan diet, but a lot of “anti-inflammatory” foods are acceptable on a vegan diet and staples to most healthy diets. (For example: spinach, squash, root vegetables, almonds, cashews, chia, coconut, etc.) Always talk with a doctor first before making changes to your diet, but I’ve found “the mediterranean diet” to be a good starting point because its focus on fresh fruits & veggies, lean meats, olive oils instead of butter, and whole grains is a good starting point for every “lupus diet” I have seen. Always be careful of anyone who says they found a cure!

Sadly, there is no cure for lupus. Don't forget that this person is $elling a book.

I am much in the same boat. I have been vegetarian since 3rd grade, went fully vegan for about 6 years, and was on a vegan (and health conscious/little to no processed foods) diet when I started experiencing symptoms. While on my long road to a diagnosis I was convinced by enough people to add fish back into my diet. It made me feel better in certain ways but didn't improve my symptoms. Now that I've gotten a diagnosis I've seen the same research of countless people claiming remisssion with the same diet I got sick on. The main difference seems to be that these diets say to go oil-free which i never had done. It seems like if it were as simple as a diet switch nobody would have active lupus or support these drugs companies. Maybe diet is unrelated all together but the research is definitely interesting.

I tried dr goldners vegan doet and smoothiesvfor luje 2 weeks. I couldnt believe how amazing it made me feel. I had no joint pain i wasnt tired had loads of energy. The problem is it is way to gross and way to much to drink. She uas healed alot of people of autoimmune disease so it does work. You have to be on a whole food plant base diet with basically zero added fat. You can have nuts but limit yourself.

@A MyLupusTeam Member thanks for your input. That is why I am do confused. I was on a vegan diet when I was diagnosed so why did so get sick. When others claim that being on a vegan diet has cured them. I just do not get it.
