It isn't a no you don't have but they're not sure for definite. It's also possible that it is the beginning stages of lupus development in you. So, Borderline lupus means that your blood test results or symptoms indicate that you have lupus but there's not quite enough info to say for certain that you have it. One reason for that is sometimes the ANA (Antinuclear antibodies) that is the antibody that usually attacks our immune system and our body's tissues, can come out positive in people who don't have lupus. Some of the symptoms we have can also be in other illnesses such as arthritis. The next step is they'll do a physical examination, look at your medical history and what your blood tests indicate and may do further tests also to make a confirmed diagnosis of lupus. This is one of the reasons lupus is difficult to diagnose but not impossible. In borderline cases it's really important to keep following up with your doctor so they can continue to monitor you for any extra symptoms you may already have or develop. I hope this may help to answer your questions Adele.
