I've had lupus since I was 21 I am going to be 60 in April. I too have the flutters or heart pulpitation since 2004. My Rheumatologist prescribes 25mg of Atenolol (blood pressure med) it slows down the heart rate so I don't have the flutters. I also see a cardiologist annually.for it. Nothing wrong with heart it's the Lupus! Also I get the chest pains. I've had them since I was diagnosed with lupus in 1984. They are common with Lupus. I totally hate when doctors say for what ever ailments we are experiencing and they say , "It has nothing to do with your lupus"! I call bullshit on that. My Rheumatologist is the best and never gives me some bogus answer. Babygirl please don't be afraid to go to the doctors. That's the worst thing you can do. Good luck. 🙏🩷

Please do not let fear keep you from taking care of your body. I pray that you will reach out to your PCP first thing tomorrow morning. It could be something that can be treated and help you feel better.

Babygirl,
I had fluttering in my chest that I mostly felt in the hallow of my throat for years and on again off again chest pain. I ignored it. Got used to it as my normal and carried on I had stuff to do.
Well, in December I had a heart attack.
During all the testing that comes with putting three stents into my heart to keep me alive, it was discovered that the fluttering was a leaky valve in my heart ( regurgitating blood every time my heart beats) due to an enlarged heart they believe was caused by my lupus. Lupus - that gift that keeps on giving. Do now I'm on enough meds to make me rattle like a change purse, new diet, etc. But it all seems to be working - the fluttering is far less frequent and the chest pain is all but stopped. What I thought was Vertigo for years has mostly gone away and I am far less winded when walking around.
I'd suggest seeing a cardiologist about the fluttering, don't wait like I did or it might be too late.

BG, if your symptoms get severe or the pain or shortness of breath is constant, please go to the ER! I agree with others that these symptoms can be due to lupus, and you must see your rheumatologist--don't be scared; they are common symptoms. 😘
