It’s likely peripheral neuropathy. I have the same issues with my hands, feet, and most recently my face. I see several specialists. My neurologist helps me with this issue. I hope you find relief!

The burning sensation you're describing could be related to peripheral neuropathy, which can occur in people with lupus. This involves nerve damage that can cause intense burning sensations in specific areas of the body. Many people with lupus experience these "hot spots" that can appear randomly on different body parts.

Some MyLupusTeam members have reported similar experiences, describing it as feeling like a chemical burn or intense heat in specific areas, even without visible skin changes. If you notice a physical lump along with the burning sensation, it's important to have your rheumatologist examine it. This could be related to cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE), which can cause skin changes and lumps. They may want to rule out other lupus-related skin conditions.
It's recommended to see your doctor if you have any new, growing, or inflamed lumps, especially if they're causing discomfort. They may want to perform additional tests to determine the exact cause and appropriate treatment.
