It sounds like TMJ, I have noticed that my muscles are not as fluid as they used to be and now to chew takes a toll on my jaw muscle and even my teeth. I stay away from anything to chewy. Now becareful because it can seem like its TMJ but it could be something else if you have other symptoms with it (pain in the neck,ear or shoulder, pain runnjng down your arm, tinglingin your hands etc.). I did and come to find out I had a schwannoma tumor at c6-c7. Hot compress and massage the muscle area.should help when you have a flare up. Now people have had their jaws broken to fix TMJ. The choice will be yours to make just make sure you have researched all your options. You are not alone,millions of us whether they have lupus or not suffer from this

What could be causing your upper jaw pain and popping noise on the right side?

Jaw pain with popping sounds can be related to your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This is the joint on either side of your head that connects your lower jaw to your skull. Lupus can affect these joints just like it affects other joints in your body, causing pain and inflammation.

The popping or clicking noise you're hearing is a common symptom of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). When lupus affects the TMJ, it can cause:

* Jaw pain
* Popping or clicking sounds
* Limited ability to open your mouth wide
* Pain that may spread to your ear or head
* Difficulty chewing

Lupus-related joint inflammation and swelling can affect the TMJ, making it painful and causing those popping sounds when you move your jaw.

There are several treatment options that can help, including:

* Anti-inflammatory medications like NSAIDs (ibuprofen or naproxen)
* Muscle relaxers
* Physical therapy to strengthen jaw muscles
* Relaxation techniques to reduce stress
* In some cases, injections or other procedures

It's important to talk to your rheumatologist or dentist about this symptom, especially if you're having trouble opening or closing your mouth completely or if the pain doesn't improve. They can evaluate whether lupus is affecting your jaw joint and recommend the best treatment approach for you.

I agree, too. Please see your dentist, Krystal, as a night guard can be really helpful if they agree.
