Okay y'all, can you tell me if your drs , rheumy's specifically acknowledge that lupus does indeed cause a variety of digestion and bowel issues. And, that having said issues will likely not be reflected in labs and bloodwork. Today my primary asked what my rheumy says about the inflammation in my colon and like I told her, every rheumy I have ever had pushes it off and refers said issues to other drs. Just curious.

My rheumatologist absolutely believes that inflammation aka Lupus can cause digestive issues from acid reflux to inflamed colon and so on.

These doctors don't want to deal with any of these issues anymore. They only get paid in writing a prescription. They like push all these around.
I take turmeric 900 MG. It really helps my inflammation in my stomach area as well as all over. I also eat lots of ginger and this really helps me. I take natural stuff that helps me out and it work well.

I’ve had gastrointestinal issues for years also. It’s really a balancing act trying to keep our body functioning as normal as possible. We know our normal is a very different normal than healthy people. My PC doctor is an endocrinologist so he really understands me. I’m fortunate to have had him helping me through this for over twenty five years.

Unfortunately this happens all the time. There are so many unknowns with lupus especially if you have other health issues. Doctor are unsure of what to say sometimes which can lead the nothing happening. Being in groups with others who share similar symptoms can help as we share ideas and support one another. I know a lot of patients who have digestive/ bowel symptoms when they have a flare. Stay viligent and check your diet certain foods can cause these issues.

I'm afraid rheumatologists and much of the medical community does not really understand lupus. So, oftentimes, you'll get unhelpful answers. It is absolutely my experience that lupus affects the stomach. I highly highly recommend PROBIOTICS (3 billion+). Nature's Bounty is a great brand of probiotic. But there are many options. Take daily and you should see a difference in a matter of weeks. If you're having really serious tummy probs go see a GI (Gastro intestinal) specialist.
