My system is: buy your clothes too big. Eat what you like until the clothes fit. Start over with new clothes.

I need to add that my daughter brings turmeric tea that is honey sweetened to the house everyday. She buys the turmeric root and makes her own tea. It helps us with the pain.

I’ve not been on any specific diet since diagnosis. For the most part I try to stay away from sweets and products with sugar as I’ve realized that’s what causes most of my flares. I eat red meat maybe once a month. My diet is mainly fish, bone in because my sister and cousin LOVES to fish, and chicken. We grow plants in our back yard so eat a lot of those and fruits in the season. We cook with a lot of herbs. Here in Florida we get a lot of tropical medicines and natural plants/vegetables so that great. My sister doesn’t eat meat and she cooks practically every meal and that has put me on that trend as well.

Juliejewels, I haven’t found any foods that affect my lupus but maybe I’m just not aware enough about that but I’m trying to juggle foods that help macular degeneration-lots of high anti-oxidants deep colored fruits and vegetables, lots of berries. Little sugar(which I try but am not very good at) and carbs. Then I also try to be sure not to eat foods that trigger acid reflux. Also, I try to be sure to be careful of the foods that are hard on the kidneys so my CKD doesn’t get worse. I don’t eat saturated fat wherever possible(keto isn’t good for the heart). For lupus I try to eat low inflammatory foods. I’ve spent a lot of time looking up foods that are good (or bad) for each diagnosis I have. It’s tough to follow all of that. For the most part, I eat Greek yogurt and blueberries for breakfast, eels one morning. I don’t usually eat lunch unless out for lunch, I eat fruit when I get hungry. Dinner is a dinner size salad with spinach, kale, other dark greens, tomatoes, cranberries, sliced hard cooked egg(sometimes), nuts or seeds, every other evening, the opposite days I eat skinless chicken breast, fish, or whatever I want but almost never red meat(except a hamburger occasionally and steak if out to dinner). Pretty boring but since I live alone, it works for me. Hope you’re all feeling good tonight.🤗❤️

I tried keto a while back but I’m looking for maybe something new…
I’m off on my summer break for about 2 months so I need to get started.

The Keto diet works well if you love eating meat/eggs for protein. All meat should be grass-fed as should the butter. I used KerryGold butter) it’s excellent in the Bullet-Proof coffee!

So High protein, low carb…no bread like (tortillas, cakes, rolls, brownies, cookies, buns allowed…think anything with flour)
The main foods to cut out are WHITE FOODS (rice, potatoes, sugar, flour, bread and most noodles).

Mostly no fruit (blueberries, raspberries are ok)

Olive oil, Avocado oil, and Coconut oil are 3 oils you can use that actually help you lose weight. MCT a variation of coconut oil is highly recommended and you can use it in your bullet-proof coffee.

Fresh veggies with every meal is a must!
It worked. You go into something called ketosis and lose weight fairly quick. I maintained about 5yrs but eventually started getting off course.

I watched Dr. Berg videos to get started.

@A MyLupusTeam Member yes me too.
I can definitely tell the difference when I indulge too much in the comfort foods. It doesn’t happen very often but I do watch my body indicators closely 💝
